The Prague water management system is largely operated by Pražské vodovody a kanalizace a.s. and partly by PVS on the basis of a sub-lease relationship. Maintenance and repairs including emergency contingencies are carried out by the company workers, but contracting companies are also employed. Partial operation, reconstruction and restoration of the existing networks, i.e. investment activity, is ensured by Pražská vodohospodářská společnost a.s. through contractual partners.
The water management system also incorporates vitally important sources of raw water and potable water treatment. The main sources for Prague are Želivka, Káraný and Podolí. PVS purchases water from these locations from Želivská provozní s.r.o. and Vodárna Káraný, a.s.
Wastewater is treated in the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant in Bubeneč and other 20 subsidiary plants.
